Cast Iron Steak by The Culinary Fanatic

/p>

Just caught this delicious looking method for cooking a steak in a cast iron skillet. The recipe is courtesy of The Culinary Fanatic - Jeffrey B. Rogers. It involves a mixture of coffee grounds and traditional steak seasoning, a solid 12" cast iron skillet, and kosher salt. Garlic cloves, rosemary, and butter help finish the method off.

Pan methods for cooking steak are delicious. We posted about Gordon Ramsay's method a few weeks back, and from experience, I can tell you it's delectable. The use of coffee grounds is interesting, too. The most interesting element of this video though - is something called the constant flip method. The method is best summed up with the following statement:

Flipping your steak often during grilling or pan-searing will result in the best, most evenly cooked meat.

This method runs counter to what a lot of professional chefs will tell you when cooking a piece of meat - namely - leaving the meat alone and minimizing the number of times you touch it. With that said, this method can also produce the ever elusive crust on a good steak that many of us crave and want to be able to do at home.
