Q Where do you ship/deliver meats to?
Slipacoff’s Premium Meats ships quality beef, pork, poultry and other products from our Ottawa butchery to locations across Ontario and Quebec. From Toronto to Trois Rivieres, Manitoulin Island to Montreal and everywhere in between, we make ordering meat online easy for over 20 million Canadians.
Q I’m located in the Ottawa/Gatineau area; do you charge for delivery here?
We’re located in Ottawa, too! That’s why it is our pleasure to deliver meat to the Ottawa & Gatineau urban core without additional charge for all orders over $200 (rural areas of Ottawa/Gatineau carry a $15 delivery fee). Should your order fall under $200, no worries, we have a flat rate of $25 for meat delivery. If you happen to be in our area (1620 Laperriere Ave in Ottawa, near Kirkwood & the Queensway, we also offer curbside meat pickup for orders placed online (see below).
Q How is the meat shipped?
For local deliveries of meat in the Ottawa/Gatineau area, we use our Slipacoff’s Premium Meats trucks. For all other orders or meat delivery in Quebec and Ontario, we ship via FedEx or Purolator next-day delivery.
Q What kind of packaging is used to ship the meat? Is it safe?
We’ve gone through an extensive research and testing process to determine the best packing and shipping methods for meat delivery. Soon after processing your online meat order at Slipacoff’s Premium Meats, we pack your beef, pork, poultry and/or other products in special cardboard boxes that have an insulated bag inside the box. Into that bag we place multiple ice packs to help keep the meat chilled at proper temperatures so that it arrives at your home or desired destination ready to eat or chill straight away.
Q How long will it take to receive my meat delivery order?
Popular question! Depending on when your order is placed and where it is going, your meat delivery will often arrive on the same day; otherwise, it will be delivered the next business day (can take up to two days, depending on time and day of the week; we pack enough ice in an insulated box to help ensure smooth travels and safe, great eating!). FedEx orders placed after noon on Thursdays will be assembled and shipped the following Monday.
Q I’m in Ottawa/Gatineau and would like to pick up my online meat order. Can we do that?
Surely! We now offer same-day curbside pickup for online meat purchases placed before noon during weekdays and 11am on Saturday. Curbside pick-up at Slipacoff’s Premium Meats in Ottawa is available Monday-Friday between 10am to 4pm, and on Saturday mornings between 9am to 2pm. Please note that we do not operate a retail storefront for our meat business; all orders must be placed online, so please request pickup as your option and plan to stop by 1620 Laperriere Avenue in Ottawa at the appropriate pick-up time.
Q Where are you located for meat order pick-ups?
Slipacoff’s Premium is located at 1620 Laperriere Avenue in Ottawa. As much as we’d love to say hi, please note that we do not have a retail butcher storefront. All orders must be placed online for pickup or delivery only. Thanks for your understanding.
Q Is there a minimum order for meat delivery?
We can ship orders for whatever amount you need and desire, no matter how large or small. Orders over $200 do not incur a delivery charge; if your order is less than $200, the delivery charge is $25. (Ottawa/Gatineau only)
Q Do I have to be home when my order is delivered?
Not at all! Whether you happen to be away or would prefer not to answer the door (e.g., COVID-friendly social distancing), your meat will be delivered to the front door (or other location as requested) and will be waiting for you when you’re ready.
Q Do I need to order the meat online or is there a retail butcher storefront?
This is a tough one for us, because we’re people-people here at Slipacoff’s Premium Meats in Ottawa, and we love talking to our customers. For now, though, you can only order online. Due to COVID-19 concerns for our customers and employees, we have restricted only to online orders. We appreciate your patience and understanding, and we hope that at a time in the not-too-distant future we will be able to offer in-person meat shopping at our Ottawa location.
Q Are the meats government inspected?
Most definitely! All our meats are government inspected. We are a HACCP Certified facility and follow all the rules and regulations of the CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency). Everything we carry is either Provincially or Federally Inspected. At Slipacoff’s Premium Meats, we want our customers to be able to enjoy a fine selection of beef, pork, poultry and other products – all of the highest quality on a consistent basis. We would not sell you any meat that we wouldn’t eat or serve to our friends and family. It’s all part of our commitment as purveyors of meat serving clientele in Ontario and Quebec going back nearly a century.
Q What does HACCP mean?
HACCP stands for Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points. It’s a measure of food safety that is used to determine the hazard surrounding the production and distribution of food and how to control and minimize the risks. Maintaining or exceeding the HACCP standards helps us ensure the highest quality of meat for our clientele on a consistent and safe basis. Being a HACCP Certified facility and following all the rules and regulations of the CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) are all part of our commitment to quality, safety and service to you, our valued clientele of meat aficionados.
Q Where are the meats sourced?
We source our meats from hand-selected, reliable supply chain sources in Canada, the United States, Australia, Japan, and New Zealand.
